The new Renault Captur has now arrived in our country and shows off a longer, wider carriage, a cooler look, and a completely new interior. The inside of the press photos looks slick, thanks in part to the large, vertical infotainment screen that can also be found inexpensive versions of the new Clio.

Other ‘eye-catchers’ are the ‘floating’ middle tunnel with high-ranking poker and the beautiful buttons of the climate control.

Bad news for the crook driver: the Renault Captur 2020 Life has to do without it. The beautiful middle part looks without armrest, without aluminum, and with a simple poker, a lot less hip than with a dressed up variant and the knobs of the standard heating and ventilation system are especially very well-arranged.

Here we find the first major loss because air conditioning is missing on the Captur Life. Above the climate buttons, we find a series of no fewer than eight touch keys, of which no fewer than five have a meaningless existence in the ‘Life’.

However, the area above that row of empty buttons is the most painful part of this interior. No vertical screen here and no smaller multimedia screen.

No, even the radio is missing in the basic Captur! Instead, we find a storage compartment and a remarkably striking plastic plate.

It seems that a clip has been attached for small, flat cards and receipts. Perhaps handy, but the thing seems to be particularly successful in giving his owner a huge sense of regret.

Is there no good news to report at all? Yes, it’s not that bad. We spotted four electric windows and cruise control.

On the screen between the analog counters, you can read information about the driving aids present.

Useful, because road sign recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist are present.

On the outside, the economical Captur driver can be recognized by the ‘Blue Marine’ tint, because that is the only color for which Renault does not charge extra.

The black handles and 16-inch wheel covers are the deciding factors because these parts are unique for the entry-level Captur.

Nevertheless, good news can also be reported here, because LED lighting around is standard.

And the solution that we mentioned at the start? Which is called just like the previous Captur “Pack Essentiel”. That provides for € 995 in a hand-operated air conditioning and a radio, which suddenly makes it easy to live with the basic Captur.
